The Alliance for Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party will officially announce its candidate for President of the European Commission at an electoral meeting to be held in Brussels, Belgium on 1 February 2014
To underline the transnational character of the campaign, candidates shall be formally nominated by at least two member parties from more than one member state or by 20% of ALDE Party Congress voting delegates by 20 December 2013. Nominations were discussed by the leaders of our European liberal parties at the pre-Summit meeting before the European Council on 19 December 2013.
The President of the ALDE Party, Sir Graham Watson MEP said: "I am confident that whoever is chosen as our candidate will be a committed Liberal, a committed European, and passionate about leading Europe’s Liberals in an EU-wide campaign based on the principles and policies in the manifesto we will adopt at our Congress in London in November."

- 28-30 November Nominations opens & Election Manifesto adopted at London Congress
