Today, Austrian MEP Angelika Werthmann joined the ALDE Group in the European Parliament. A “non attached” member before, Werthmann is member of the Budgets committee, the committee on Women’s rights and Gender equality. Commenting on Werthmann’s accession to the Liberal group, ELDR President Sir Graham Watson MEP stated: “Angelika Werthmann will be a valuable colleague who will help strengthen the connection between Austrian Liberals and the ALDE Group.”
Earlier this spring, Werthmann’s legislative opinion to the European Commission proposal for the "Health for Growth" Programme was voted on in the Budget committee. This opinion is a part of the MFF (Multi-annual Financial Framework 2014 - 2020) related package of legal bases. She broadened the scope of the proposal to include drug-related health concerns for the European citizens, as well as to improve the mechanism of assessing the impacts of the programme. The opinion was voted in favour with a clear majority.
