Last Friday, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö appointed SFP’s new Chairman Carl Haglund as Minister of Defence. Haglund will take up his new office on Thursday in a hand-over ceremony, when outgoing Minister Stefan Wallin will become an ordinary MP again. The 33 year old Haglund, an economist, was Member of the European Parliament. He will be succeeded by a former Deputy leader of SFP, Nils Torvalds. Last month, Carl Haglund clearly won the SFP presidential election against Anna-Maja Henriksson.
