ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen MEP travelled on 25 August to Macedonia to have meetings with the highest government officials and the leadership of ALDE member Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Hans van Baalen MEP was accompanied by Liberal International (LI)'s Secretary General Emil Kirjas.
"I am happy to be back in Macedonia which has turned a new democratic page and is now governed in an open inclusive way with participation of the Liberal Democratic Party led by Goran Milevski MP. We will continue to work to ensure a strong democratic Macedonia member of NATO and the EU and a strong influential LDP," said van Baalen at the meeting with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev together with the LDP President. "I welcome your new approach of openness and friendly relations in your foreign policy - you are a friend and good partner," added ALDE Party President addressing Macedonia's Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

The ALDE Party and Liberal International delegation was welcomed by Minister Zoran Sapuric of LDP and held a joint press conference at the Macedonian government's headquarters.

ALDE Party and Liberal International fully supported LDP ahead of the Macedonian local elections scheduled for October 2017.
