Last week ALDE Party Vice Presidents Ilhan Kyuchyuk and Gasper Koprivšek met with Behgjet Pacolli, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and leader of ALDE Party member in Kosovo Aleanca Kosova e Re during his visit to Brussels.
They discussed the latest political developments in Europe and in Kosovo and congratulated Mr Pacolli and his party for their recent election results and for joining the government following the parlimantary elections of 9 June. In addition to Pacolli as First Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, AKR will also hold the Ministerial posts of Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning and the Minister of Internal Affairs, and many deputy ministers.
Following the meeting, Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP said: “Kosovo is the youngest European democracy and we have to pay particular attention when we discuss the European perspective of the country. Kosovo has made significant progress over the past few years, and I hope that the newly formed government, which will also include the liberal party of Deputy Prime Minister Pacolli, will deepen the reforms and the desire for European integration.”
“The development of the country is of crucial importance to the Balkans and Europe. This argument has to be taken into account by member states that still do not recognise the independence of Kosovo because only the full integration of the Western Balkan countries is a guarantee for the stability and prosperity of the region,” he added.
Pacolli also held meetings with Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Johannes Hahn, the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement, as well as other meetings with MEPs and at NATO HQ.
