Leading Reform Party wins again
In Sunday’s elections, Estonia's leading ALDE member party Reformierakond of Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas succeeded in maintaining its leading position with nearly 28% of the vote, while the other ALDE Party member Keskerakond received nearly 25% of the vote. Congratulations!

Andorran Liberals return as a strong force in Parliament
After 6 years without running for office as a party on its own, the Liberal Party of Andorra re-entered the political scene with full energy. "The eight seats obtained in the Andorran parliament mean that we are now the leading force of opposition," said the party's International Officer Judith Pallarés.

ANO meet for Congress; re-elect Czech DPM Babiš as leader
ALDE Party member in the Czech Republic, ANO 2011, met at the weekend in Prague for its third convention where they held a number of elections for membership of the movement's leadership. Sir Graham Watson and Angelika Mlinar were present.

Fianna Fáil secures debate on assassination of Boris Nemtsov
On Wednesday, Fianna Fáil secured a discussion in the Irish Parliament on last Friday's assassination of Boris Nemtsov while Liberals and Democrats across Europe have expressed their shock and sadness. ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson said: “Russia deserves better. I condemn his brutal murder.”

Slovenia says yes to same-sex marriage - Fianna Fáil in Ireland urges to vote yes in referendum
On Tuesday, the parliament of Slovenia introduced the possibility for same-sex couples to get married, made possible by support of ALDE's members, while in Ireland, Fianna Fáil, has announced they will support the referendum to legalise same-sex marriage and actively campaign for a yes vote on May 22.

On Tuesday, ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson hosted a special "Liberal Drinks" meeting at ALDE Party HQ. For an audience of mostly individual members and members of ALDE Party members living in Brussels, 'EU watcher' Joop Hazenberg discussed the future of Europe.

LYMEC meets in Belgrade to express concern on media freedoms
LYMEC's leadership gathered in Serbia for its first Bureau meeting in 2015 where they decided to expand their activities to a participation in Europe Pride, a young local councillors meeting and a Europe-wide campaign on TTIP. A roundtable on media freedoms was held as well.

UK LibDems seek to stamp out the stigma on mental health
The leader of the UK Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg this week hosted a special radio show to discuss mental health care in the UK. The Liberal Democrats believe mental health should not be ignored or stigmatised, and should be taken as seriously as physical health.
