Anne Brasseur steps down as PACE President
Liberal Anne Brasseur stepped down as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe after her two-years mandate came to an end on Monday 25 January. During her presidency, Brasseur defended that “human rights, democracy and the rule of law know no borders and never should.”

Cecilia Malmström joins WTO Ministerial meeting in Davos
Liberal European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström joined trade ministers from 30 countries in the World Trade Organisation Ministerial gathering in Davos. "Ministers should use this meeting to reflect on how to revitalize negotiations in the WTO," she said.

Greek individual members elect Katerina Polyzou as coordinator
With a turnout above 70%, individual members in Greece elected Katerina Polyzou as the new country coordinator. Mrs Polyzou was one of the two elected individual member delegates to the ALDE Party Congress in Budapest.

ALDE pushes for completion of EU's digital single market
Recently the European Parliament adopted a report, co-drafted by ALDE MEP Kaja Kallas, calling for ambitious, targeted actions to complete Europe's digital single market. ALDE Group MEPs strongly supported the report, which calls on the European Union and its Member States to embrace digital innovation.

German individual members to elect coordinators
To allow for a further development of the activities in the Germany, the ALDE Party individual member’s steering committee will organise an online election to elect three country coordinators. These coordinators have as main responsibility to coordinate initiatives and activities in Germany.
