The government in Slovenia led by Pozitivna Slovenija’s Alenka Bratušek won an important vote of confidence late on Thursday night and secured the political support she needs to find a solution to the country's economic woes without seeking outside help.

In a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Bratušek following the result, ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson, said: “European Liberals and Democrats would like to sincerely congratulate you for the positive outcome of the important votes in Parliament today, and especially on the confidence vote won, which proves that your reforms are on the good path.”

“I would also like to express our appreciation of your determination and ability to lead Slovenia in these difficult times for Europe in general and your country in particular.”

“You offer Slovenian people hope in the face of economic hardships and European Liberals are committed to continuing our support for you.”
