Exciting times are coming for our Individual Members and Liberal Associates. We are happy to announce elections for a new Steering Committee, Council Delegate and Congress Delegates!
But first what is AIM?
Individual Members and Liberal Associates are a key part of our movement. They take part in multiple initiatives organised by ALDE Party and its member parties and actively participate in proposals, campaigns and petitions. We are the only European party that offers the opportunity for direct participation in our political project without having to be affiliated to a national party. Find out more here.
What is a Steering Committee?
The Steering Committee for the Individual Members in ALDE Party is the elected body, consisting of five persons, representing the Individual Members, and steering their work across Europe. It supports all Individual Members and Liberal Associates in organising themselves at local, regional, and national level in order to become more active in favour of liberal principles. Every two years, online elections for a new Steering Committee are held, ahead of the ALDE Party Congress.
Additionally, ahead of any ALDE Party Congress, the delegates submit resolutions and amendments, which are drafted in a democratic and collective process. During the Congress, they have the right to take part in the meetings of the Congress and to voice their opinion in plenary and have the right to vote.
How can I run for elections?
Every Individual Member and liberal associate who is up to date with his or her membership or service fee will be able to vote and can nominate themselves for the election. Nominees need three other individual members or associates to endorse their nomination. Details are available for our members, through the AIM exclusive section of our website.
If you are not part of our community, join us today and you can either run for elections or vote for new representatives!
