Join us Monday, 28.02.2022 at 16:00 CET, for an exclusive event on the state of media freedom.
In Greece investigative journalists are facing criminal charges for their reporting and the government is assuming greater control over media outlets. In recent years the deaths of journalists in Greece, Malta, the Netherlands and Slovakia, and crackdowns on independent media in Hungary and Poland, have made headline news. Recently, the loom of war between Russia and Ukraine led to the closing of Deutsche Welle’s Moscow office.

Join us for a very interesting discussion with:

Irena Joveva MEP, member of the Culture Committee, former journalist Slovenian Press Agency
Professor George Pleios, Head of the Communication and Mass Media Department at the University of Athens and member of the most prominent international media associations
Professor Vlasis Vlasidis, who teaches Mass Media and Communication in the Balkans at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki and runs a social media monitoring unit
Verena Schälter, the correspondent for ARD, Germany, based in Athens
Sven Gossel, Steering Committee member with a background in Journalism.
