On behalf of the ALDE Group two outspoken MEPs, Sophie in 't Veld and Petras Austrevicius, marched along with thousands of other participants at this year's Baltic Pride in Vilnius on 8 June.

The March for Equality is the highlight of the annual LGBTI festival rotating in turn between the three Baltic capitals. Sophie in 't Veld addressed the crowds with a message on behalf of the European Parliament's LGBTI Intergroup: "Europe is about equality. Nationalism is about homophobia. So let’s embrace Europe. Let’s be Europe together and let’s fight together for the next five years for equal rights for everyone.!"

In 't Veld has attended several editions of the Baltic Pride since 2007, seeing the event evolve from a small march at the edge of town under heavy police protection toward the celebration of equal rights it is today.
