From 11 to 12 June, liberal leaders, European Commissioners, party leaders, decision-makers and other guests gathered online for the ALDE eCongress to discuss some of the most defining challenges of our time.
In case you missed something, we collected all the key highlights from these two days below.
The ALDE Party eCongress was officially opened on Friday 11 June, starting with a tribute in honour of the late ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen. Acting co-Presidents Senator Timmy Dooley and Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP delivered short remarks during the opening ceremony, in addition to video contributions by President of the Renew Europe Group Dacian Cioloș and European Commission Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager.
During the ALDE Council meeting, the participants discussed membership developments and electoral updates, among others. The meeting also included a special segment on the Conference on the Future of Europe, with guest speakers Guy Verhofstadt MEP and LYMEC President Antoaneta Asenova.
During ALDE Party Congress, three Vice Presidents and one Treasurer were elected. Congratulations to Henrik Bach Mortensen, Dita Charanzová, Luis Garicano and David Burke!
A range of resolutions adopted during Congress
During the Congress, a range of resolutions covering topical issues were voted on and adopted. All new adopted resolutions will be available here under the different categories.
The second day of ALDE Congress was kicked off by two panels that brought together some of Europe’s leading liberals to discuss topical issues, from Europe’s economic recovery and smart spending to strengthening our democracies.
