ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen MEP welcomes the contribution of President Emmanuel Macron to the debate on the future of Europe. Freedom, protection and progress are also strategic goals for ALDE.

We should not forget that a free market economy, corporate responsibility, a well-functioning and rule-based Eurozone have an important role to play as well. New and existing commitments do not always ask for new institutions but demand implementation. 

The ongoing discussions between ALDE and LREM are vital to not only agree on the strategy but also to agree on workable solutions to current problems and challenges. I am confident that ALDE and LREM and new partners jointly invited by a strong ALDE - LREM coalition, will establish an effective, joint political group in the new European Parliament.
