The ALDE CoR Vice-President Jasna Gabrič, Mayor of Trbovlje, Slovenia and shortlisted for the 2018 World Mayor Prize, will discuss North Macedonia with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, at the upcoming CoR Plenary next week.
"The political signal sent by the parliaments of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and Greece by agreeing to the new name Republic of North Macedonia is a positive and courageous step forward for the whole region" says Gabrič. "I look forward to cooperating with local and regional authorities in what I hope will be a fast breakthrough in the EU accession process of a country deadlocked for way too long. We must make up the lost time! And in this process, the local level will play a central role as closest to the citizen."
Moreover, during the plenary, the ALDE CoR second Vice-President Ulrika Landergren will talk with Ms Viorica Dãncilã, Romanian Prime Minister, representative of the Romanian EU Presidency of the Council, who will present the priorities of the Romanian Presidency.
Both debates can be followed via livestream.
