The ALDE family has been deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Yves Robert, Coordinator for ALDE Individual Members (AIM) in France.
ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen and the AIM Steering Committee remember Mr Robert as a passionate European liberal and one of the most driven individual members who made a true contribution to the European project and the AIM programme. In 2017, Mr Robert was awarded the European Citizen's Medal by the European Parliament. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Mr Robert.
“We have lost a kind and passionate liberal. A statesman, and a true European. Dear Yves, you will be sorely missed.”
Silvia Fernandez, Chair of the AIM for Europe Steering Committee
“My good friend Yves Robert was a passionate European and a kind and strong personality. ALDE will miss him. He will not be forgotten.”
Hans Van Baalen, ALDE Party President
“Yves was the French grandfather image who oversaw our work and often intervened with a word of wisdom. Yves saw the big picture, truly on a European scale and perceived how each piece of the ALDE puzzle fitted together. He punctuated our group meetings with humor, often at unexpected moments. I learned a great deal from Yves and am grateful to him for sharing his wisdom with me, among many others. A good and great man who will be surely missed.”
Robert Crane, AIM for Europe France
“Yves was the kind of person who wouldn’t give up and would keep fighting till the end. The liberal family lost a dedicated member and a true European. He was the one who shaped the structure of the IMs in France and his passion will be missed. I will keep all those good memories we created with Yves, working together, arguing, laughing, organizing and I’m sure his work will be carried on. My deepest sympathy to his family.”
