We are happy to invite you to our next event, in coordination with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) Europe!
Russia’s war in Ukraine has caused a seismic shift in the Nordic security landscape. With Finland sharing a 1340 km border with Russia, and Sweden being the next country in line, this has led to strong support in both countries for NATO accession. Norway, on the other hand, is a long-time NATO member, but is not part of the EU. Amid ongoing EU efforts to achieve more strategic autonomy, the war in Ukraine could also encourage the Norwegians to further develop their relations with the Union.
During this event, we will discuss these developments and look at their possible impact on the future security of the Nordics. How has Russia’s war in Ukraine influenced the Nordic security landscape? What has been the Nordic countries’ response? And how do NATO and the EU fit into the new security architecture in the North?
