On 23 January 2019, several months after the October parliamentary elections, Latvia formed a new government.
Represented at the newly established coalition government is the ALDE member party Latvijas attīstībai, with the party leader Juris Pūce serving as the Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development.
Running in coalition with Kustība Par, the party gained 12% of the vote and now has 13 seats of 100 in the Saeima. The alliance resulted into two more ministerial roles: Ilze Viņķele from Kustība Par is currently serving as the Minister for Health and Artis Pabriks – a candidate representing the alliance but not a member of either party – was appointed as the new Minister for Defence.
