ALDE MEPs stand up for Human Rights

Ethan Arsht

On Monday, the world celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a milestone document, which underpins all international human rights law and inspires us to continue to work to ensure all people can gain freedom, equality and dignity. It was drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all the regions of the world and was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris in 1948. It is the most translated document in the world, available in more than 500 languages.

Liberty, equality and justice are more than ideals; they are founding values or our Union! With authoritarianism on the rise in Europe and elsewhere, protecting citizens’ rights has never been so timely! @UN #HumanRightsDay #UDHR70 https://t.co/vIY1hyxSX0
