On 2 March, the ALDE Party Bureau, together with Renew Europe Group MEPs, held a meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine with the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna.

ALDE Party acting Co-Presidents Senator Timmy Dooley and Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP welcomed Stefanishyna, who gave a first-hand update from Kyiv with high level information of the situation in Ukraine, the government and its citizens.  

She addressed issues such as the possibility of Ukraine becoming an EU candidate country, the energy synchronisation between Ukraine and the EU and the need of assistance to cover the skies and coasts of Ukraine from Russian attacks, among others.  

During the Exceptional ALDE Leaders meeting on Monday 28 February, her party Sluga Narodu was granted temporary affiliate status in the ALDE Party.
