Earlier this month, ALDE Party Co-President Senator Timmy Dooley travelled to Ukraine together with Billy Kelleher MEP.
During their time in Ukraine, they met with local officials and visited temporary accommodation available for people that have lost their homes or had to flee due to the Russian invasion.
They also saw firsthand the damage done to a power plant in Kyiv, an example of the constant attacks to civilian infrastructure that have resulted in regular power outages across the country and limit peoples’ access to heating, electricity and water.
Dooley stressed the importance of providing Ukraine with generators, while Kelleher spoke about the European Parliament’s and Eurocities Generators of Hope initiative during the visit.
They witnessed the devastation of the war, but also the resilience of the Ukrainian people in Kyiv and Irpin who are looking forward to start rebuilding their homes.

Visited a power plant, targeted by Russia, in #Kyiv. Putin’s aim is to destroy 🇺🇦‘s ability to heat & power its cities so Ukrainians must flee to other countries. Ukrainians don’t want to leave their homeland.
