Last Thursday 30 March, the ALDE Party Bureau took note of the announcement by Secretary General Jacob Moroza-Rasmussen that he will step down from his current role within ALDE Party, as he has been offered and accepted a new professional challenge as of May 2023.

During his time heading the ALDE Party secretariat since 2012, the Party has grown in both size and influence and the ALDE Party Bureau would like to express its gratitude for the enormous growth and work that has been done in that period.  

At the ALDE Party Congress in Dublin in June 2022, it was agreed that the selection procedure for the position of Secretary General is to be reviewed. This revised procedure has been submitted for adoption at the next ALDE Party Congress, taking place in Stockholm on 26-28 May 2023.

The ALDE Party Bureau will take the necessary measures to ensure a smooth transition until a new Secretary General is nominated. The Bureau will launch an open call for a new Secretary General after discussing the matter.
