In revision of the 2008 Consumer Credit Directive (CCD), the European Parliament’s internal market and consumer protection committee adopted its report on new rules for Consumer Credits in July 2022. Changes are being proposed to the existing legislation to ensure they meet modern requirements in the digital age. Digitalisation has brought new actors and products to this market, and the current economic situation means more Europeans are searching for loan-based payments. During the event, speakers will discuss how the CCD can better service European consumers by establishing a level-playing field for traditional and modern consumer credits and how it may encourage the use of ‘best in class’ technologies solutions without prescribing inflexible rules during a rapidly changing age.
