Commenting on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen said: “We call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the violent hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh and for the immediate return to dialogue and the peace talks within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. We fully support to the efforts and co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and urge neighbouring powers in the region to resist involvement that could risk the violence escalating even further.”

“We are increasingly concerned about the welfare of the population in the region, with more than half already displaced due to the fighting and disproportionately affecting women and children. We call for access to be uninterrupted so that immediate humanitarian relief can be provided to those who are in urgent need.”
