On Thursday 25 March, ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen met with fellow liberal leaders during a virtual pre-summit meeting organised by the Renew Europe Group, before the European Council online meeting convened led by President Charles Michel.
The most crucial topics discussed during the pre-summit included COVID-19 and Europe’s approach to vaccinations, relations with the United States, developments in Russia and European digital market and economy. The role of the euro was also discussed in preparation of the Council meeting with Presidents of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, and Eurogroup, Pascal Donohoe.
The next informal meeting of heads of state or government will take place on 8 May in Porto, Portugal.
ALDE President van Baalen also recently shared his vision on the Conference on the Future of Europe with the European Liberal Forum. You can watch his commentary here or below.
