ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen took part in a panel debate co-organised by the UK Liberal Democrats Overseas and the British Group of Liberal International (LIBG) on 7 December on the results of the US Presidential Elections.

During the event, which also featured the interventions of David O’Sullivan, the former EU Ambassador to the US, and Leslie Vinjamuri of Chatham House, President van Baalen said the incoming US President Joe Biden has to become the President of all US citizens and unite the United States and called on moderate Republicans to recognise Biden as the duly-elected President as well and liberate themselves from the outgoing President Donald Trump.

He took the opportunity to also invite the US Democrat Party to engage more closely with the ALDE Party and with Liberal International to rebuild the transatlantic community and the international liberal order.
