The Alliance Of Her hosted its first session for 2022 of its world-class academy series over four days from March 3-6. In partnership with LYMEC, this was the first time the Alliance Of Her supported a class of talented liberal women in politics all under 30.
With an extremely packed agenda of presentations from experts across a range of areas relevant to succeeding in political life, inspiring speakers, and opportunities to develop their own political goals and plans, the class did not waste a moment in setting off on what will be an extraordinary journey for each participant.
Held in the beautiful Domaine de Ronchinne (Belgium), participants also benefited from time and space to focus, reflect and learn from each other, as each brings with them their own experiences, challenges and successes.
Svenja Hahn MEP joined the class for one of the Academy’s famous ‘fireside chats’. At time personal and frank, Hahn said in her remarks: “When you’re young, you’re often underestimated… people respect you [though] when you stand your ground.” She also spoke of her commitment to inspiring other women and help those on the rise in politics.
During the event, participants also had the chance to meet the impressive women who founded ‘We Belong’, a new platform aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion in European politics and challenging the gender norms that hold women, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, back. One of these women, Jana Degrott (DP, Luxembourg) gave a fireside chat sharing her journey as one of the youngest elected women in Luxembourg, and her recent appointment as an Obama Foundation Leader.
The 2022 Academy promised to be a transformational one; in addition to the youth class the Alliance of Her will support an open class and a new comprehensive program which will conclude with a special combined session in November. The dynamic and ambitious young women of the youth class of 2022 certainly proved that this will be a class to watch.
Note: The Alliance Of Her Academy continues to benefit from the support of partners FNF and ELF. As such, all participants meet strict eligibility criteria, in addition to demonstrating clear leadership talent and ambition. Participants are also informed of the prohibition to run in an election campaign during the academy or up to 12 months after the termination of the program. If this condition is not respected, participants will be required to cover costs independently
It’s a wrap – our first-ever Alliance Of Her youth academy session has just come to a close. Four days of empowering connections and inspiring conversations, and we can’t wait for the next session!
