Anna-Maja Henriksson re-elected as SFP leader

On 26-27 May our member party SFP hosted their annual Congress in Oulu, Finland.

During the event, Anna-Maja Henriksson was re-elected as Chair of the party. This will be Henriksson's third term as party leader, as she has led the party since the summer of 2016.

All SFP Vice Presidents were also re-elected: Anders Adlercreutz, Sandra Bergqvist and Silja Borgarsdóttir Sandelin -who is also an alumni from our European Women's Academy.

Anna-Maja Henriksson addressed the participants on Saturday in an inspiring speech, in which she spoke about her view on Europe: "We will have the European Parliament elections next year. SFP wants the EU to work as a uniting political force for peace, prosperity, stability and justice within Europe and around the world. The EU should focus on overarching issues like human rights, freedom, trade, climate and skills. SFP wants Finland to take an active and constructive role in European cooperation."

"As a former Minister of Justice, I see it as utterly important to protect the rule of law and fundamental democratic rights. Hence, I welcome the European Commission’s proposal to limit support for those who do not follow the rules. It is also of great importance that the support for agriculture is secured at a sufficient level."

Henriksson reiterated SFP’s ambition to be the most EU-friendly party in Finland and expressed her gratitude to Nils Torvalds MEP for his outstanding work in the European Parliament.
