Empowering liberal women in Europe to lead and succeed

Alumnae and Allies Summit 2023

European liberal parties agree that diversity and equal representation is the right thing and the smart thing to do. However, women in leadership and decision-making positions continue to face challenges to lead and succeed.

The second-ever Alliance Of Her Alumnae and Allies Summit aims to address this gap, supporting liberal women to lead, succeed, survive and thrive in political life. In October, our network of over 180 alumnae and allies will meet in Amsterdam to reconnect with the network, take part in expert-led masterclasses and hear from inspiring political leaders.

Above all, we will celebrate the success of the fast-growing Alliance Of Her community and launch new initiatives to showcase the potential of the Alliance Of Her as an exciting force in liberal politics. We’ve already confirmed an incredible line up of speakers, with more to be announced very soon. Join us!

Occupying the space: Promoting female Leadership in party politics

What happens when women occupy top positions within parties? How important is it that liberal women pursue these roles, and how can we support more women to create positive change from within political parties? Join a conversation with Ian Marquardt about the need for more women to occupy the space within political parties.

Positive Psychology and coaching: popular culture trend or modern leadership essential?

This session will explore what lessons can be learned on impactful leadership from the science of optimal functioning, productivity and wellbeing. We will discuss the latest science on topics such as beating burnout and imposter syndrome. Participants will leave with a practical tool box of techniques and approaches for addressing our ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I’m not ready yet’ stories. Together, we will also explore what we can learn from coaching theory and practice to further our goals and impact? The session will also explore coaching as a critical tool for strategic and sustainable leadership, wellbeing, growth, achievement and performance. Together, participants will learn simple coaching techniques to help them identify their strengths, navigate challenges and achieve their goals. Join Naomi Williams, an expert on gender equality, leadership and wellbeing who brings her 20 years experience leading global influencing initiatives on women and girls' leadership, together with the science of Positive Psychology and Coaching.

Personal security for women in politics - practical solutions

From micro-aggressions, to relentless online misogyny, to physical violence and harassment - women in political life inevitably experience gendered abuse and discrimination as a result of unequal power relations and harmful cultural stereotypes. Recent high-profile cases suggest the situation is only getting worse. We know the problem - join this session with our alumna and board member Jasmina Mršo to get some solutions on how to confront this all too common challenge for female leaders and decision makers.
