On 23 February, the Latvian political coalition Attistibai/Par! announced their lead candidate for the upcoming European elections in May. The coalition consists of ALDE member party Latvijas Attīstībai and their partners par! and Izaugsme.

Heading the coalition’s electoral list is Ivars Ijabs, followed by Baiba Rubesa and Ieva Ilvesa.

In his address, Ijabs highlighted the importance of education in Europe: “Europe needs to invest in people. [...] We cannot afford to have brain drain to other Member States. The European Union needs to take care of modernising education in all Member States.”
