On 26 May, Belgians went to the polls and voted not only in the European elections but also in the federal and regional elections. A total of 7,218,633 votes were cast.
At the federal level, the ALDE Party member parties Open VLD and Mouvement Réformateur (MR) gained 579,334 (8,54%) and 512,825 (7,56%) of the vote respectively. This will translate into 12 seats for Open VLD and 14 seats for MR in the new parliament.
