Representatives of the European institutions and citizens that took part in the Conference on the Future of Europe (COFOE) met on 2 December for a feedback event to discuss how the institutions are following up with the Conference’s recommendations.
“We have certain responsibility vis-à-vis the citizens [that participated in the Conference]”, ALDE Party Vice President Dita Charanzová MEP said, stressing the need for EU institutions to respond to the recommendations made by citizens.
ALDE Party believes that the Conference should not be a public relations exercise but rather include all democratic input by citizens. We call for a convention to implement the COFOE conclusions. Find out more about our vision for the future of Europe here.
“Our commitment is not over yet: we need to keep delivering not just on the proposals but on the spirit in which they were written - a new idea of Europe, fit for the challenges of the future”, Guy Verhofstadt MEP and former Co-Chair of the Conference said.
Earlier this year, the Conference on the Future of Europe presented its recommendations to address key challenges facing the EU today, such as the war in Ukraine, climate change and Europe's sovereignty and its role on the global stage.
