From 30 April to 3 May, the ALDE member Ciudadanos in Spain held its fifth national Congress, this time exceptionally online given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the theme “United for freedom” (Unidos por la libertad) and with the participation of more than 500 party members, Ciudadanos confirmed Inés Arrimadas as their party leader following her electionin March this year.
In her intervention, Arrimadas highlighted the importance of liberal values when faced with the big challenges caused by the ongoing pandemic and stressed that Ciudadanos is the liberal and centre party that Spain needs to serve citizens, defend equality and face populists and nationalists.
“The hope and values remain intact, we will continue to be guided by a single principle: the general interest of the Spaniards,” Arrimadas stated during her intervention at the closing of the Congress. You can watch the intervention of Arrimadas in full here (in Spanish).
Moreover, the party discussed and adopted the new party strategy and the new statutes as well as elected a new General Council.
