All parts of the Council and associated meetings will take place at SIX Convention Point, Pfingstweidstrasse110, CH-8005, Zurich. However, the Evening Reception will take place at Sonneberg Restaurant, Hitzigweg 15, 8032 Zürich, Switzerland.
Hotel
There are several hotels close to the Council venue which still have availability: Sheraton Zurich Hotel, 25hours Hotel Zürich West, Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel. Please note that there is no block booking made for the Council delegates and all accommodation should be booked directly via official hotel websites. For more central location we recommend looking into Hotel Glärnischhof or Hotel Opera Zurich
Currency
The local currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF). For current exchange rates with your own currency you can find updated information on the internet, for example here. ATM machines are widespread all over Zurich. Some shops may accept cash payments in Euro, but they will apply their own exchange rates.
Power
Please be advised that Switzerland uses Swiss (Type J) power sockets. 2-pin plugs of the Type C (used in some European countries) will fit, but standards from several EU and non-EU countries (such as France and Germany, UK, USA and many others) will not fit without a proper adapter.
Adapters will be available at electronics stores in Zurich and at the airport shops, but prices may be considerably more favourable abroad and bought in advance.
Transport
Travelling from Zurich Airport
Zurich is located in the centre of Switzerland and at the heart of Europe. Most European capitals are reached in less than 2.5 hours from Zurich by plane. You can view an interactive map of the airport here.
Zurich Airport has a train station and is 10 km away from the city centre. You can transfer directly from the plane onto a train. The trip into the city centre takes approximately 10 minutes. A single ticket will cost CHF 6.80, and a 24h Day ticket will cost CHF 13.60.
A Taxi will take approximately 15 minutes and will cost CHF 60 – 70. The taxi ranks are in front of Arrivals 1 and 2. You can also pre-book an airport taxi by telephone (+41(0)848 850 852).
Travelling via Rail
Zurich Main Railway Station has direct connections to its neighbouring countries.
You can travel from Germany with several Deutsche Bahn services, from Austria with the ÖBB Railjet, from France with TGV Lyria's high-speed rail network, and from Italy with Trenitalia.
Public Transport
Zurich has a highly developed public transport network, including tram, boat, bus, rail and cable cars. Further information specific to the conference venue will be updated when available.
Zürich Card holders enjoy free, unrestricted 2nd class travel on public transportation in the city of Zurich for either 24h (CHF 27) or 72 hours (CHF 53)

Travelling to Sonnenberg Restaurant
Sonnenberg Restaurant (Hitzigweg 15, 8032 Zürich, Switzerland) where the Evening Reception will take place is easily accessible by public transport. If travelling from the SIX Convention point, there is a direct tramway line No. 8, whereas if travelling from the main train station, there is a direct tramway line No. 3. If travelling from centrally-located Bellevueplatz, there is a direct tramway line No. 8.
Another option is to take a taxi, which will approximately cost around 20 - 35 CHF depending on the pick-up location.
There will also be a bus arranged from the Sheraton Zürich Hotel to the Restaurant Sonnenberg departing the hotel at 18.45. Please note that all seats are based on first come first served principle. There will also be a bus arranged from the Sonnenberg Restaurant to the Sheraton Zürich Hotel departing from the restaurant at 22:00.
