D66 hosts ‘I am Europe’ Convention

The Dutch ALDE member party D66 hosted its ‘I am Europe’ Convention on 26 January 2019 in Brussels, with the aim of joining forces with other pro-European partners to create a platform for individuals and organisations, who embrace Europe, to meet and exchange ideas.

Focusing on several topical issues, such as Brexit and Europe’s sustainable future, the Convention was also an opportunity to pose questions to the party’s 25 MEP candidates, announced ahead of the event.

The party leader Rob Jetten inspired the Convention attendees: “The future of Europe is on the line. The future is yours for the making. The future is now.” He also reminded the listeners of the gravity of the situation: “We think these European elections are the most important in modern history.” You can read his speech in full here.

ALDE MEP Sophie in 't Veld said: “It is more important than ever to create a strong, progressive, future-oriented, pro-European group in the centre.”
