Bureau Elections
As per the deadline of Friday 13 May, the ALDE Party Secretariat received the following nominations:
Timmy Dooley, Fianna Fáil, Ireland & Ilhan Kyuchyuk, MRF, Bulgaria
Over the last year, since the tragic loss of President Hans van Baalen, Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP and Senator Timmy Dooley
have demonstrated the power of teamwork at the helm of ALDE Party.
Despite the lockdowns and the constraints, they visited every corner of our continent and offered assistance to our parties.
In the Conference on the Future of Europe debates, they mobilised both the membership and the citizens,
and through direct interaction made ALDE Party be the voice for the reform, renaissance and renewal of the continent.
In the wake of the Russian aggression, Kyuchyuk and Dooley were among the first European leaders to visit the Ukrainian capital and to clearly express
the firm European solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
They have proven that their priority is to stand up for liberalism and our shared values. As the pressure of authoritarianism and populism is set to intensify,
we need to demonstrate unity and capacity, not only to offer answers, but to set the political agenda.
We must be creative and optimistic about our future, and to offer opportunities for involvement of all freedom-loving people of Europe in our political movement.
That is how they will prepare an inspiring Election Manifesto 2024, that defines the future of our continent, and which will set our members and the ALDE Party towards greatest electoral success.

Dániel Berg
Momentum, Hungary
It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your Vice-President in the last two years.
Despite instability and uncertainty, we have much to be proud of: we liberals have led the way on key issues like the rule of law, climate change, and most recently, supporting Ukraine.
We now have a chance not only to preserve our position as one of the most influential European political communities but also to make significant gains. Yet we have much work to do: our road to 2024 begins here and now!
Mission:
- Taking the fight to the authoritarians,
- Strong partnerships, strong political campaign for Europe,
- Scouting out new talent while supporting liberals from Dublin to Sofia.

Svenja Hahn
FDP, Germany
I am running for ALDE Party Vice President to contribute future proofing the ALDE Party. With the brutal unfolding of the biggest conflict of our time, democracy vs. autocracy, we need to increase our efforts to boost the liberal message. We need an efficient and strong party to shape the future of Europe and the EU. A party that grows through its diversity and works for a strong political platform will be able to execute a 2024 elections campaign that will win the hearts and minds of Europeans.
As a Member of the European Parliament, I serve in the Committees for Internal Market and International Trade and work as a strong advocate for a digital Europe, citizens’ rights and free trade. I am committed to politics that create opportunities for people to shape a better tomorrow for themselves.
My experience in the European liberal family has turned me into a passionate European by heart. As the First Vice-President of the European Liberal Forum, I work with our liberal foundations. As a former President of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) I experienced the diversity of our continent, engaged in campaigns on all levels and gained insights into the ALDE Party as a former ex officio member of the Party Bureau and a member of the 2019 Election Manifesto Committee. As an alumna of the Alliance of Her, I see the female liberal leadership growing.
ALDE Party is a platform of networking, learning and growing together. I am ready to dedicate my leadership experience, my passion and my liberal convictions into forming ALDE into the future shaping liberal force Europe needs in these challenging times.

Kira Rudik
Holos, Ukraine
As the leader of the Holos Political Party (full member of the ALDE family since 2020), I have been actively involved in foreign affairs and international cooperation as a spokeswoman at numerous conferences, and roundtables, including many ALDE Party and ALDE member party events.
When war broke out in my country, it was the ALDE Party that was the first organisation to offer its support and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all ALDE members for that. During these difficult times of war in Ukraine, I have devoted my time and energy into raising awareness of what is happening in my country and coordinating international response on the ground.
As a Vice President of the ALDE Party, I wish to work hard and support ALDE and its members in the same way you have provided support to Ukraine. My main focus as the candidate for the position of VP is to strengthen ALDE from the following perspectives: ensure the representation of non-EU, Eastern European, and Western-Balkan countries in the decision-making bodies with their views on policymaking to be included, as well as strive for ALDE to become an example in women leadership and gender equality. Moreover, true to my background and current position as a Member of the Parliament of Ukraine and First Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee on Digital Transformation, I am a strong proponent of innovations in public governance. I do hope that Ukraine’s progressive approach toward digitalization can be beneficial in setting digital policies and strategies within Europe. I am confident that the power of liberals is our strong loyalty to the principles of freedom, equality, justice, and human rights. For us, these are not empty words but specific values that we are ready to secure and protect, just like Ukraine is doing at this very moment.
As a VP, I want to make sure that ALDE as an organization and as a community becomes the leader and pacesetter in Europe for making our countries more just, equal, innovative, and safe. At these challenging times, ALDE needs to be united and inclusive, and I truly hope that my candidacy will strengthen the Party and its members.

Anna Stürgkh
NEOS, Austria
My name is Anna Stürgkh, I am 28 years old and I believe it is up to us to create a new space for politics in the 21st century. From a young age my parents made sure that I had a seat at the table both metaphorically and literally. It didn’t matter if that table appeared too big for me: I had something to say and I made myself heard.
In 2012, NEOS was founded, I became politically active. Not because I wanted to become a politician or because I thought I knew best. But because I had something to say and I would not let my values, my ideas and my future be silenced. So, like my parents taught me, I made myself heard.
10 years later we see ourselves confronted with a society that is tired of politics. While the older generations are disappointed of parties avoiding accountability, the younger generations are disillusioned by parties working towards the next election not the next century. But we liberals are not like that. We are fighting for a brighter future. However, we will only succeed if we dare to be different, dare to open up and give people a chance to make themselves heard.
Now, as a political representative, I have created working groups across party lines, initiated a citizens’ platform in my district. As president of NEOS’ youth organisation, I managed to double the amount of young people active in our political endeavours giving them the opportunity to make themselves heard. I know that we can create new political spaces, but we have to work hard for it and I am ready to do so. I am running as Vice President of ALDE because I am ready to do my part so all of us can make themselves heard.

Annelou Van Egmond
D66, The Netherlands
Annelou Van Egmond has been a driving force behind the electoral victories that D66 has experienced in the past decade, culminating in liberal,
pro-European Dutch governments.
As a member of the D66 National Board, she was responsible for all communications in local, provincial, national, and European campaigns.
She has not lost one.
Equality for all is central to what Van Egmond stands for.
She is a strong supporter of the Alliance of Her and has been its advocate since the very start.
As Vice-President of ALDE Party she has worked with and stood for the smaller and newer members of our liberal family,
the ones that are sometimes on the fringes of a Brussels-centered reality.
And precisely those parties are situated at the very heart of the fight for freedom today.
Van Egmond stands for a Europe which is bigger than just the European Union.
D66 has consistently been the most European of all Dutch parties.
Van Egmond embodies that spirit.
We believe she is a force to be reckoned with, and a difficult one to be missed.
If our common objective is to bring liberal ideas to power in Europe–and to ensure they remain there-we need Van Egmond to give us the confidence,
the strength and inspiration for a well-oiled political party machine.
