On 12 January, the Estonian Centre Party held their Congress at the Estonian National Library in Tallinn. During the Congress, the party revealed their electoral programme and highlighted the importance of an active campaign in the lead up to the national elections held on 3 March.
The national and district electoral lists were also approved. The national list is headed by the party leader and Prime Minister Jüri Ratas, followed by candidates from different sectors, including politicians, top athletes, journalists and doctors. Full list of candidates is available here.
In his speech, Prime Minister Ratas pointed out that the key topic of the upcoming election is moving forward. “We have only one fundamental choice – forward or back?” he said.
He also emphasised the role of the past in the national elections: “This is the future of Estonia we want to reach. Yesterday's solutions will not help us achieve our great goals. In some people's memory, the lawn could have been greener and sky bluer, but in fact we were a poorer, a more divided, and a shrinking nation. The Center Party won't let Estonia turn back! We go ahead and invite all the people of Estonia with them.”
