On 12 January, the Estonian Reform Party held their Congress in Tallinn, Estonia. The event kicked off the party’s campaign towards the national elections that will take place on 3 March.
The Reform Party presented its election programme and the electoral list for both the Riigikogu and the European Parliament. The Riigikogu list is headed by the party leader Kaja Kallas. Vice-President of the European Commission, Andrus Ansip, heads the list for the European Parliament, followed by Taavi Rõivas, former Estonian Prime Minister and Chair of the ALDE Party Manifesto Drafting Committee.
In her Congress speech, Kallas pointed out that Estonia must move towards a better future. She said that her plan does not involve reinventing Estonia every day: “Today we ask – what is Estonia’s vision? And we assume the answer needs to be something striking, something that no one has ever come up with. Our solution is simple – we need to continue with professional and reliable governance, implement the kind of policies that have brought Estonia success. We are flexible and open to new ideas. But we don’t need to reinvent Estonia every day."
She also reminded that the success is possible thanks to the Estonian people: “The success we enjoy today has not come without effort. It has been built by active, enterprising, ambitious Estonian people.”
