Europe’s healthcare workers are fighting for us all

While life has been put on hold in many European countries due to the intensifying coronavirus outbreak, citizens across the continent show solidarity and continue to support healthcare professionals, crisis workers, researchers and volunteers who are doing their utmost to handle the situation and keep us all safe and healthy under these extremely difficult times.

European liberals wholeheartedly do so too, and thank the healthcare staff for their tireless efforts and commitment to fight for us all. As citizens, we have a shared responsibility to do our part to help maintain the health care system capacity and follow the guidance from our respective member state governments. Here at the ALDE Party Secretariat, we are following the recommended measures and keep supporting our member parties and those affected by the crisis.

Across Europe, our members have taken measures to alleviate the impacts of the crisis, from proposing plans to support businesses and self-employed to strengthening national authorities; from supporting sanitary measures to reminding citizens to be vigilant when faced with information online; from showing solidarity with those most affected by this crisis to reminding everyone of the shared responsibility we have in overcoming this situation – the worst virus outbreak in the history of the European Union.

ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen shared his message of support:

“These vulnerable times show the strength and determination of individuals fighting this common enemy. We share our greatest appreciation and praise all healthcare workers, teachers and suppliers of essential goods and services to keep our society running. We should all take our individual responsibility and be safe, together we can beat this virus!”
