On 27 January 2019, the ALDE member party FDP held its electoral convention ahead of the upcoming European elections. The party voted on both their electoral list and electoral manifesto.
Topping the electoral list as lead candidate is Nicola Beer, Bundestag MP and the Secretary General of FDP. Svenja Hahn, President of LYMEC and EWA alumna, was voted for number two.
In his speech, the party leader Christian Lindner proclaimed the target of 10% for the European elections, which would triple the result of 2014. Lindner also reminded that the 2019 elections is not about protest but about shaping Europe. You can watch his speech in full here (in German).
Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, speaking at the event, reminded the audience: “This is time to go to work. This is time to unite, to renew Europe. [...] We have done it before. We can do it again."
