We are happy to announce that the first issue of our bi-annual publication Liberal Bulletin is now out!
Just as we began to get a glimpse of normality with the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic behind us, war came to our continent once again, showing us that we cannot take our freedom and safety for granted. This new issue focuses on how liberals are meeting the challenge of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine from all angles: security, energy and humanitarian aid.
The Bulletin features in-depth interviews with Ireland’s Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, who hosted the first in-person ALDE Party Congress since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in Dublin, and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, who is showing leadership on the European Green Deal and Fit for 55 package and fighting for a more sustainable and energy independent Europe. We also meet Mia Nyegaard, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Leisure in Copenhagen, who is working to integrate Ukrainian refugees arriving in the city.
This issue also features two op-eds with insights from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Latvia, Artis Pabriks, and João Cotrim Figueiredo, Leader of ALDE Party member Iniciativa Liberal and Member of Parliament in Portugal. You will also find out how European liberals have taken action for Ukraine since Day 1 of the invasion, get an overview of how ALDE Party supports young liberal leaders and their projects during the European Year of Youth and much more.
