Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP, acting co-President of ALDE Party, spoke via video message to the first International Summit of the Al Hurriya Liberal Network (AHLN) of liberal parties in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, striving to realise and live liberal values and to serve as a democratic structured network.During the Summit and panel discussions, taking place on Saturday 13 November in Jordan, representatives shared their experiences and knowledge about forging and building like-minded coalitions.
In his video message, Kyuchyuk said: “It is important to be able to learn from each other, even if sometimes the lessons to learn are hard to hear. This is why such forums for regional cooperation such as Al Hurriya Liberal Network are so valuable; so make the most of the discussions and the partnerships you can build together through this network.”
“Regional cooperation between EU and the MENA region is becoming even more important as we tackle the biggest challenges together – from COVID, to climate change, to migration,” he added.
Several panel discussions took place throughout the day to discuss the universal values of freedom, democracy, rule of law and economic prosperity in a free economy. As part of the programme, VVD International organized a workshop on successful campaigning and the day concluded with an exhibition of liberalism through time.
