FDP-The Liberals, founded in 2009 after the merger betweenf the Free Democratic Party and the Liberal Party of Switzerland, is a liberal and reform-oriented political party in Switzerland. The party stands for personal responsibility, competition and healthy public finances while fighting against paternalism, bureaucracy and an inflated state.

FDP stands for a cosmopolitan Switzerland in a globalized world and cooperation with the EU though bilateral treaties, but against EU accession. Currently, FDP is the joint-largest party in the Federal Council, the third-largest party in the National Council, and the second largest in the Council of States.
