German Coalition Negotiations: Liberals on the rise

The German coalition negotiations entered a new phase last Thursday. Twenty two working groups with four to six negotiators of each party will discuss various topics that should be finalised by 10 November. The remaining red lines will be clarified during the main round of negotiations among party leaders in a later phase. They are aiming to get a coalition deal at the end of November.

The FDP head negotiators are Christian Lindner (Party Leader), Volker Wissing (Party Secretary General), Marco Buschmann (MdB), Bettina Stark-Watzinger (MdB, Chairwoman FDP Hesse, and AoH alumna).
There are some interesting ALDE figures playing crucial roles in these working groups:
Next to Bettina as FDP lead negotiator there is AoH alumna Svenja Hahn who is part of Internal Security, Civil rights, Justice, Consumer Protection and Sport Working Group 16.

Furthermore there is:
Nicola Beer MEP leading the Europe working Group 21.
ALDE VP Alexander Graf Lambsdorff leading the Foreign Affairs, Security, Defence, Development and Human Rights Working Group 20.
Moritz Körner MEP part of the Finances and Budget Working Group 22.
FDP will organize a special party conference to vote on the eventual coalition agreement.

Updates will be included in November's edition of the Pro: Sign up now!
