During her joint IMCO and ITRE hearing on 2 October, Sylvie Goulard has shown strong leadership, the capacity to deliver on future EU initiatives for the single market and EU industry, with clear commitment to work in the broader context of the Green New Deal and Digital agenda. Despite the obvious unconstructive approach taken during the hearing by some MEPs, Sylvie Goulard demonstrates that she is qualified both to be a member of the College and to carry out the portfolio she has been assigned.
"Sylvie Goulard, as a former colleague demonstrated once again her deep knowledge of the value of the single market for our citizens and a clear vision to make it fit for the digital age. I particularly welcome her commitment to make sure that the upcoming Digital Services Act does not create new barriers. She is the right person at the right place, to drive the key portfolio of the Internal Market", reacted Dita Charanzovà (ANO), Vice-President of the European Parliament and Renew Europe Coordinator for the Internal Market and Consumer protection Committee, immediately after the hearing of Sylvie Goulard, Commissioner-Designate in charge of Digital Economy and Society, Industry and SMEs as well as the Defence Industry and Space.
Martina Dlabajovà (ANO), Renew Europe Coordinator in the Industry, Research and Energy Committee added : "Sylvie Goulard provided clear vision for all the important challenges Europe needs to face in the near future. I welcome that she integrated her portfolio into the broader context of the Green New Deal and Digital Age agenda of the future European Commission. She committed to an ambitious strategy for Europe's industrial future including in telecoms, cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, which leaves no one behind, especially our SMEs that are key for our economy and our jobs. She made a clear commitment to build bridges in Europe and remove barriers in the internal market, to ensure our companies can use all the benefits of it."
