Innovation and diversity key in shaping Europe’s future

For Queeny Rajkowski, Member of Dutch Parliament (VVD) and an alumna of The Alliance Of Her programme, being able to give back to her country was one of the reasons why she wanted to enter into politics. Rajkowski reveals this and more in the third episode of Liberal Stories, an exclusive ALDE Party video interview series focusing on Europe’s future.

“My parents are Polish but I was born and raised here. I was really grateful in living in The Netherlands and seeing that even if life is tough on you, you still have opportunities here. I think that’s so beautiful what we have created here in The Netherlands. I want to give back to our countries,” Rajkowski says.

Reflecting back on the political achievement she is the proudest of, Rajkowski highlights the importance of safety and security in her city Utrecht, especially for women, noting that “feeling safe is such a basic principle”.

With the world currently in turmoil, it could be easy to feel pessimistic about the future of democracy. But Rajkowski looks forward with enthusiasm:

“Innovation is a great tool to foster democracy in Europe. It’s about receiving information but also letting your voice be heard, and those are two things that I think are very important in democracy.”

“I want to ask everyone who is working on digitisation and innovation, please keep in mind that diversity is so important. So that when we are shaping the future right now, we make sure everyone can participate in an equal way,” she concludes.
