November 24, 2018 | 09:30AM-12:30PM
Hotel Jupiter, Av da República 46, Lisboa 1050-195, Portugal

Dear ALDE Party Individual Member,

We would like to invite you, as Individual Member of the ALDE Party, to the event: "Roundtable Ralf Dahrendorf -Turning the tide: populism and political extremism in changing democracies", organized by the Social Liberal Movement (MLS in Portuguese) jointly with the European Liberal Forum,

This event will take place on November 24, 2018 - 9:30 a.m., at the Hotel Jupiter, Av. da República 46, Lisbon, in the "Menina" and "Moça" Rooms.

Populism, and the polarization of political discourse, are pressing problems in modern democracies. Worrying signs have emerged recently; populist parties gaining political power, increased radicalization of  the debate and political activism both online and on the streets. It is in this context that we launch a discussion on this problem, and what possible solutions to fight it.

As confirmed speakers, we have:
Máté Szalai, from Corvinus University of Budapest
Slawomir Sierakowski, director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Warsaw
Susana Salgado, professor and researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon
Ricardo Silvestre of MLS, researcher in the area of populism and political polarization online.
The official language of the event will be English, and you can see the program in attachment.

Please confirm your participation through the event official page: https://www.meetup.com/liberalismo-lisboa/events/255967281/
