The unprecedented COVID-19 crisis has put an enormous strain on Europe’s capacity to act. In the midst of these developments and challenges, Germany is about to assume the presidency in the EU Council as of 1 July 2020.

With its reputation as a political heavyweight, the country will have to prove that it has what it takes to come out on top of the crisis and inspire new momentum for European policy making.
