Liberals deliver in the European Council and Commission

During the 2019-2024 mandate, the President of the European Council and liberal and centrist European Commissioners led the way on liberal solutions for a brighter future, tackling crises such as COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine, and pushed forward Europe’s green and digital transitions. Learn how some of their policy achievements have made Europe more competitive, safe and sustainable.

Lib Dems continue surge in UK local elections

On May 3, the Liberal Democrats had 522 councillors elected to local councils across the UK, a gain of over 100, coming out as the second most popular party ahead of the governing Conservatives for the first time since 1996. The Lib Dems added 768 council seats since the last UK general election in 2019, more than any other party over the last parliamentary mandate.

Besoin d’Europe present EU list at Rally

On 7 May, Besoin d’Europe presented its electoral programme and full list of candidates for the European elections at a campaign rally in Paris. Besoin d’Europe, led by Team Europe member Valérie Hayer, is the joint national campaign of ALDE Party members UDI and Parti Radical with partners such as Renaissance, part of the Renew Europe Now platform with ALDE Party and EDP.
