DP makes gains in Luxembourg local elections

On 11 June, Luxembourg went to the polls to elect new municipal councillors for a six-year term. In Luxembourg City, the largest constituency, ALDE Party member DP – Demokratesch Partei held their majority and the incumbent Mayor was re-elected. Across the country, DP increased their vote share to 20.64% and are set hold 134 council seats in total.

Naša stranka celebrates 15 years in politics

Edin Forto was re-elected leader of Naša stranka during their Congress in Sarajevo on 10 June, where the party marked 15 years of political activity. Naša stranka is currently represented in government at all levels of the country for the first time, following electoral success in the 2022 elections. ALDE Party also organised a panel on foreign influence in the Western Balkans during the Congress.

SFP holds Congress in Tampere

Last weekend, ALDE Party member SFP – Svenska Folkpartiet i Finland held their party Congress amidst ongoing government negotiations following elections in April. During the Congress, Anna-Maja Henriksson was re-elected party leader and delegates discussed policy priorities such as the fight against climate change, economic growth, human rights and the role of Finland in Europe’s evolving geopolitical context.

Renew Europe CoR hosts SME Masterclass at Business Days

On 7-8 June, Renew Europe in the European Parliament and the European Committee of the Regions joined forces for the Renew Europe Business Days to share concerns, expertise and solutions on what the EU can do better to support SMEs and businesses. During the event, Renew Europe CoR focused on subnational perspectives, showing how cities and regions lead the way in supporting local businesses.

Renew Europe launches Youth Manifesto

Over the past several years, it has become clear that young Europeans are mobilised by the major challenges facing our continent. The fight against climate change, creating equal opportunities and combatting discrimination are at the heart of their concerns. Renew Europe is committed to increasing access and opportunities for all young Europeans and has launched a Youth Manifesto to address these issues.

Business Days participants call for better regulation

Non-regulation is as bad as over-regulation – this was one of the conclusions from last week’s Renew Europe Business Days in the European Parliament. The event brought together Europe’s main economic, business and industrial stakeholders to exchange concerns, needs, solutions and recommendations to make EU legislation fit for the future, and implementation of the EU Green Deal in particular.
