ALDE Party co-President meets President Zelenskyy in Kyiv

Last week, ALDE Party Co-President Timmy Dooley met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other members of the Ukrainian government and civil society in Kyiv to reiterate the liberal family’s unwavering support to the Ukrainian cause in their fight for freedom and justice against Putin’s war of aggression.

Mobility at centre of Manifesto town hall in Porto

On 24 August, ALDE Party hosted the third event of its Manifesto town hall series in Porto, Portugal. The event was attended by more than 100 citizens, with a lively conversation around the challenges that transport, mobility and freedom of movement pose to our society.

ALDE Party co-President at Bled Strategic Forum 2023

On 28-29 August, ALDE Party co-President Ilhan Kyuchyuk attended the 2023 Bled Strategic Forum in Bled, Slovenia. On the margins of the Forum, co-President Kyuchyuk met with Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob and emphasised the unity of the liberal family to tackle shared challenges such as humanitarian aid after the devastating floods in Slovenia.

VVD and D66 confirm new leadership candidates

ALDE Party members VVD and D66 selected Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius and Rob Jetten as candidates for their party leadership ahead of elections in the Netherlands on 22 November. The two current Ministers will respectively replace Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Deputy Prime Minister Sigrid Kaag at the helm of their parties, pending confirmation at party congresses.

Liberals commemorate 34 years since the Baltic Way

On 23 August 1989, approximately two million people formed a 600-kilometre human chain running across the Baltic states to peacefully demonstrate against the Soviet occupation. The historical event became known as the Baltic Way and was one of the most important steps towards the restoration of independence in the Baltic countries.

Liberals continue supporting Moldova's European future

Last week, ALDE Party Vice-President Dan Barna led a working delegation in Moldova ahead of the country’s upcoming local elections on 5 November. The delegation, made up of 11 members of the Romanian Parliament from ALDE Party member USR, travelled to support and promote Moldova’s future EU accession and European integration.

Join ALDE Party's next Stakeholder Series on biofuels

On Tuesday 19 September, ALDE Party will host its next stakeholder event bringing together representatives from the public and private sector to discuss key policy topics. The next panel, in coordination with European Biodiesel Board, will examine the role of biofuels in decarbonisation, which is facing a major challenge when it comes to transportation of goods and people.

Renew Europe welcomes Dr Catherine Amalric-Michalet

Following the tragic death of Véronique Trillet-Lenoir, Renew Europe confirms that Véronique’s successor, sitting in our parliamentary group, will be Dr Catherine Amalric-Michalet. A prominent academic and medical doctor and a devoted local politician as municipal councillor of Aurillac in Cantal, Dr Amalric-Michalet will continue to work to improve the health of all Europeans.
